About Us

The Darling was founded in 2009 by Nadine van der Zee with a sugar-sweet shopping paradise in the middle of the busy Nine Streets in Amsterdam. After two years the webshop was born and now everyone from everywhere has the possibility to buy The Darling goodies!

On entering our store evokes a 'child entering a candy store' feeling, you really don't know where to start! Our collection is a mix of unique affordable brands, design and some vintage. We regularly scour different countries to find original items for the stores. Our products are a mix of clothing, accessories and jewellery. To experience the ultimate 'candy store feeling' it is possible to buy real sugarsweet cupcakes in our store for take away or to eat them in our 'Cupcake Café' upstairs. The Darling Cupcake Café is a hangout where you can relax with a coffee, tea or fresh juices and take delicate bites of the colourful macaroons, or cupcakes which look like little works of art.

Our Cupcake Café is also an inspiring space to celebrate all sorts of special occasions. In keeping with The Darling experience we have come up with various workshops and events. Isn't it fun to combine shopping in our store with a workshop, a home theater play or some nice music while enjoying cupcakes, tea and prosecco? Check our eventbook for more information. Unfortunately our cupcakes are not for sale on the webshop. Instead we aim to fulfill your sweet dreams with pretty eyecandy with our blog where we have brought together everything that inspires us; from creative ideas to interesting fashion trends and how to translate them to your own wardrobe and combine them with what you already have.
